The Imitation Ox was a device the Kearton brothers Cherry & Richard used in their pioneering attempts to get ever closer to their wildlife subjects by utilising deception and subterfuge to go undercover into nature and secure untainted images of wildlife at home. Considered among the first professional wildlife photographers, the original photograph of Richard carrying the imitation Ox first appeared in the 1909 edition of 'Wild Nature's Ways'.
